Why Honey

Colour: Light yellow
Lather: Medium
Finish: Translucent

Honey base is translucent and light yellow, with real honey in the base and a medium lather. Bars come out golden and let light through rather than being fully clear. It has a 12-month shelf life, so plan your batches around that.

The bee-print recipe in the book leans into the colour: stir extra raw honey and lemon essential oil into the melted base, then press bubble wrap, bubbles down, into the top of each cavity. Peel it off once the soap has set and you have a honeycomb pattern. A drop of yellow soap colouring deepens the gold.

Good to know

Is the honey soap base vegan?

No. It contains real honey.

Can I make honey bars that aren't see-through?

Yes. The recipe book suggests mixing it with a creamier base for a matte finish. Make a small test batch first, as our bases don't all share one formula.

Can I add extra honey?

Yes. The recipe book's honeycomb bar adds 4 oz of raw honey per pound of base. Stir it in once the base has cooled to 125°F.
